Sado is pretty much the end of the road, and the only way out is back to the mainland.If you are still in the mood for islands in the Sea of Japan after a trip to Sado, you can try to get to the more remote and much smaller Awashima Island, 50 km North of Sado. You will need to get back to the the mainland and to Iwafune, a small harbour 30 km North of Niigata.
